Parents, family and friends of lesbians and gays, as well as supportive community members are invited to attend the St. Joseph/Berrien County PFLAG meetings from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on the second Sunday of each month.

Meetings are held at the Berrien County YWCA, 508 Pleasant Street at the corner of Lake Boulevard, St Joseph, Michigan. Enter at the top of the stairway on Pleasant Street, and take the inside stairway to the Out and Affirmation Center (OAC). Reservations are not needed and you do not need to be a member to attend, participate and be welcomed and affirmed.

Meetings include opportunities for sharing in a safe, supporting environment and for informal conversation and refreshments. Personal information will remain confidential. Information of interest is presented during the second half of the meeting.

MISSION

Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons, their families and friends.

PFLAG does this through: support, to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten an ill-informed public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights.

Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays provides opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity, and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity.

CALENDAR

Sunday, Dec 14, 2008:
After the time for sharing, Keith Sliter will present his personal story: Growing Up Gay and Christian, the story of how one fish grew up to realize he wasn’t a bird, survived the efforts of those who wanted to keep him from drowning, and—with renewed insight, strength and faith—swam back to the school.

Keith presents his story with the hope that his sharing can remove the barrier of religion that keeps the LGBT and heterosexual communities apart.
